4. Reflection
What have I learnt in this module?
Throughout this module, I've learnt about the multiple design principles that are involved in design. I've learnt how to analyze different art pieces and break down the different design principles that showcased. Using the design principles taught and the method of analysis, alongside the guidance of our lecturer I've also learnt how to create a visually stunning art piece for my final task.
What did you enjoy the most?
I really enjoyed learning the core fundamentals of design, different methods to approach analysis and creating a visually stunning art piece. Ive also come to enjoy viewing my friends perspectives on art, and brainstorming alongside them. Ive also learnt to receive criticism positively and implement them in different ways.
What did I not enjoy the most?
I dreaded using blogger as a medium of creating an e-portfolio as its compose view is different from the published view. That made it hard to tweak small things prior to publishing posts. I personally feel like blogger is also very limited in terms of its design capabilities which prevents different creative students from showcasing their full potential.
What have I learnt about myself through this module?
The biggest thing ive learnt about myself through this module is that prior to learning design principles, ive never really noticed the small things that make up an art piece. This module helped me open my eyes and broadened my knowledge.
What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
I personally have felt ive gained new knowledge and skills in various such as design principles, visual analysis and communication strategies. Ive also broadened my understanding of design concepts, artistic techniques and adaptations to trends. I would also like to believe that ive refined my skills as a concept artist.
I think something that hasnt changed is my art style, passion for art and creativity. I may continue to engage in a process of exploration, experimentation and reflection to seek out more growth as an individual.
What could be improved in this module?
I think more interactive elements would be exciting to students as different students have different ways of absorbing knowledge.
With that being said, better feedback mechanisms could be implemented. Real world applications would also go a long way to help cultivate understanding and deepen our analysis skillset that we've just acquired.
Moreover, the the module could help us be more industry prepared by providing us group works that require us to collaborate with one another. This is because in the corporate world, we would be required to work in teams. By making us work in groups, we are forced to delegate and collaborate a lot more.
