INSTRUCTIONS

This is the Module Information Booklet for this module:

TASK
Design Audit

In this exercise we were required to examine the User Experience when using an app. We're required to come up with a brief, the good UX design choices, the bad UX design choices and a conclusion.

The app I chose to audit is Spotify. I chose Spotify due to the experimental UIUX changes thats happened over the past few years and the inconsistencies that each update brings.

Here are some of the key points ive included in the presentation:

Bad UX design - Frequent layout changes hat often moves or redesigns interface elements which could cause frustrations because learned habits dont work anymore.

Good UX design - Smart personalization recommendations helps keep a personalized connection to the user.

Final Project

During this project we were required to research and industry or issue that could be tackled by having better user experience. We chose to study about pet care information.

Pet care information is often recorded across physical documents or digitally online. One of the biggest consequences of storing this data in multiple places is that the documents can be easily misplaced or lost which could cause inconveniences in the future.

We began by interviewing multiple personas with the primary focus being pet owners and shelters and compiling their responses. We then mapped it out using the affinity mapping.

We the made How Might We questions with 6 per statement.

Using the HMW questions we came up with a problem statement.

"Pet's caregivers feel stressed and face risk of losing crucial information because they have no organized way to store, track and easily share their pets records."

With this, we made the stakeholders map which would be more biased towards the pet owners.

We concluded that inside the organization would include the pet owner, adopter, sitter, foster and such. Outside the organization would include the food companies, animal welfare organizations, vet software companies and pet insurance companies.

We came up with 3 user personas which are Sara the new pet owner, Ali the pet shelter VP, and Farah the veterinarian. We then made their journey maps and High & Low points.

After conducting research and compiling all the information required, we decided to come up with an app that tracks all the information required about your pet. This will ensure a centralized platform for easy access, information required for new pet owners and important contact information related to vets.

Introducing Fur:E!!

Here is the launch video for the app:

This is the app demo presentation we made:

From this, we gathered that there are some limitations in the information we have compiled and this includes not having enough interviews with pet shelters and veterinarians which limits our sample pool. Another limitation is having a fully fleshed out functional app made during the time constraint. Lastly our design was solely focused on the pet owner journey.

FEEDBACK

Week 3:

Interview questions can be refined. Currently the questions are still leading the interviewee to answer instead of trying to gain their insights.

Week 11:

A storyboard is important to showcase the app to stakeholders. Try to implement it inside the presentation

Week 13:

Refine the slides and shorten the empathy and define stage. Bring the ideation in front of the presentation and focus more on the results instead of the journey.

REFLECTIONS

It was an interesting subject and the research conducted was very insightful towards the pet care industry and the limitations they face.
